Overview
The Arabic Certificate Program at St. Barnabas Business College (STBBC) is a foundational program designed to develop proficient, confident, and culturally aware Arabic speakers who can communicate effectively in academic, professional, and social contexts. As a nation surrounded by Arabic-speaking countries and with deep historical and cultural ties to the Arab world, the ability to speak Arabic is increasingly essential for regional diplomacy, international trade, cross-border cooperation, cultural exchange, and professional advancement in South Sudan.
This comprehensive certificate program provides students with a solid foundation in all core language skills, including reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary development. To be admitted into the Arabic Certificate Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Educational Qualification: Minimum of a South Sudan Secondary School Certificate or equivalent (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, Uganda Certificate of Education, or other recognized equivalents)
2. Minimum Grade: A pass in English at the secondary school level (prior knowledge of Arabic is not required; beginners are welcome)
3. Language Proficiency: Basic proficiency in English (the medium of instruction for grammar explanations)
4. Age Requirement: Minimum age of 16 years at the time of admission
5. Application Process: Completed application form, certified academic transcripts, and a copy of national identification or birth certificate
6. Personal Attributes: Applicants should demonstrate a willingness to learn, strong motivation, good communication potential, and an interest in Arabic language and culture
