Computer Engineering(Hardware)
Building the Physical Foundation of South Sudan's Digital Revolution, One Circuit at a Time.
Overview
The Computer Engineering (Hardware) Certificate Program at St. Barnabas Business College (STBBC) is a specialized, hands-on program designed to produce skilled hardware engineers and technicians who can design, build, repair, and maintain the physical components of computer systems. As South Sudan's technology infrastructure continues to expand, the demand for professionals who understand the inner workings of computer hardware—from microprocessors and motherboards to storage devices and peripheral equipment—has never been greater.
This comprehensive certificate program provides students with an in-depth understanding of computer hardware systems, including computer architecture, digital electronics, microprocessor systems, hardware diagnostics and repair, peripheral devices, power supply systems, and computer assembly and maintenance. The curriculum is heavily practical, with students spending significant time in laboratories working with real computer components, testing equipment, and diagnostic tools.
Students gain hands-on experience in assembling computers from individual components, diagnosing and repairing hardware faults, soldering and desoldering electronic components, testing circuits using multimeters and oscilloscopes, configuring BIOS and firmware, and implementing preventive maintenance procedures. The program also covers essential topics such as data recovery, hardware security, and emerging hardware technologies. Graduates emerge as competent, confident hardware engineering professionals ready to support and sustain South Sudan's growing technology ecosystem.
Program Duration: Typically 1 year
Mode of Study: Classroom-based instruction, extensive practical laboratory sessions, project-based learning, and industry placements
